Cigar Box Guitar Headquarters - CBG HQ

Hullo there fellas, um I am in the process of making a 3 stringed  guitar based upon an old nail box. hopefully I can attach some pics. While I have marked out where the frets would go (based upon a normal guitar, all spacings being made the same). At this stage I reckon maybe I will go without frets initially.  Currently I am waiting on the arrival in the mail of a peizo rod pickup and small pre-amp etc, that is delaying the final assembly  Thinking ahead, I am after advice on the bridge, specifically is it better to set the bridge at right angles to the string or at a bit of an angle?  If it should be an angle then how could that be measured. I'd appreciate any comments. Cheers Pete

If it's fretless there is no need to angle the bridge.

Thanks for your advice Jim, peter

I wonder about that to because it would put the scale length out . I have seen guitars with the bridge at an angle but also the frets are angled too to fit the scale length ,that makes sense and it makes the base deeper and a good angle for your baring finger . I'll be checking this discussion to see if anyone can come up with a real answer to this daunting question.

Oh I didn't realise that the discussion was so old I suppose there was no answer ,never mind
