Hello, I'm Ottie Noble and i build Cigar Box Guitars, I love the hunt for the box's I love the trying to figure out just what kind of wood to use as the neck. But the biggest reward is reading the comments from the rael builders in the Clubhouse. My guitars are built one at the time and no two are alike mainly because at my age I can't remember what I had for supper .

All joking aside I to feel honored to be a part of this group and count you all as brothers.

Hi My name is Julian juju - high scool drop out never liked scool instead would thumb a lift out into the Countryside and walk the moorlands , visit museums and places of historical intrest anything rather than school

i've always loved to make things from a wee lad , used to take things apart and see what made them tick then try and put it back together and see if it still ticked ! most cases it did
used to hate woodwork until about 12 years since now i just cant get enough

i've been a joiner by trade for the past 12 years , like most i discoverd CBG's on youtube i had always wanted to build a guitar for many years , as soon as i saw and heard a CBG i was hooked

Hello My name is Laurence Harris But everyone in my family calls me Lockie cause my old man had the same name so my gran dad geve me this name and it has stuck with me for the last 46 years gees time flys , Ok i grew up in Australia and used to miss school heaps hated school so i used to go fishing or just hide in the old mans back shed and build things from anything i could get my hands on, those were good days . Now well Im living in Japan just north of Tokyo working as a Elementary School Teacher , Teaching English of course its great fun working with kids , Ive been interested in music all my life because my whole family plays music mainly Guitars ,2 of my uncles where fairly sucessful muscicians in Aust and around the country music sceen , they have also worked in the us as session musos but have since retired my father taught me the guitar when i was young well that is only when i would listen to him , And I cant read a damm bit of music i just go by ear and tabs and stumble along , i came across CBGs about 2 years ago and had to get one so i had a friend get me one while he was in the states and have loved them ever since , but i have to say I am very green behind the ears with this stuff and am very thrilled to find this place and meet some very wonderful people , I only hope now that i can learn from you all the great skills you have ,

Hello All - My name is Tom Lanford. I live in Fort Worth, Texas (where the west begins). It's good to be among friends again!

I'm a bit more of a player than a builder, although I love doing both. Been playing for over 40 years. My main instrument is the guitar, but I also love playing piano, bass, mandolin and lap steel. I've done some semi-pro playing over the years. Mostly blues and blues/rock.

These days I'm just hanging and playing at the house when not at the day gig. Just glad to be here and see so many familiar names and faces!
Comment by bairfoot cajun on November 26, 2009 at 10:57pm
howdy folks how yall are? i am the one most folks know as the bairfoot cajun i have been involved with cigar box guitars fer a year now almost to the day. today is my birthday and last year at this time my brother bought me a cool guitar magazine with billy gibbons on the cover cause he knew i like the reverend gibbons guitar style. well as it turned out there was an advertisement in there for daddy mojo cigar box guitars, and when my eyes first hit the page my first reaction was ohhh ohhh there is something wrong with these guitars cause they be gots only 3 or 4 or 5 strings. then i sat down and had a closer look and could not keep my eyes off of the daddy mojo guitars thinking from the concept that i know i can try to build guitars that look like cigar box guitars. so i jumped in with both feet and started building right away, even before i could get any cigar boxes to build with. i built several square box guitars, and after playing the first one i built, i was so hooked on it i could never turn back. so before this time i had started building guitars by hand back in 1991. the concept of it just intrigued me to the maximum. working with wood and creating things from it has been in my family fer several generations,so it was only part of my destiny to build guitars. now if someone was to tell me i couldn't build guitars i would have to ask them--- you and what army thinks you can stop me? its that ambition that drives me to build but its also having friends from all parts of the world that are interested in the same thing that guides my driven ambition. i am born to be creative and that is the way my brain was programmed at birth, woops cant change that. i live where ever the voices in my head tell me to live so i think i am guided to go different places in the rural south for different reasons i cant explain cause it is what i feel---must have gypsy blood in my veins--- any how i have lived in several southern states since i left my home in louisiana. every one of those states have brought good people into my path that have learned things from me and i have learned things from them. i truly believe the man upstairs is guiding me on my path. its great to talk with and know some of the folks here cause i am always learning new things that matter a lot in my world. so this i say with all that i believe in - i will continue to build guitars and discover new ways to do different things that involve music for all the rest of my days on this planet. thanks for having me here folks.

Nice to meet you. My name is Johnny Yowell Jr.
I am a florida cracker born and raised. I have a beautiful wife of 18+ years and a 8 year old son that my life revolves around.
I run a small family roofing company. Yowells Roofing Co. We strive to be the best at what we do. We do all of our work with our own men. And we pay them by the hour instead of the square to ensure they take the time to do thier job right the 1st time.
I go to Baylife Church in Brandon. And I am constantly trying to build a better relationship with Christ. I am not your stereotypical christian. And if I offend you by speaking of Jesus I dont care. I think thats the biggest problem in this country today. Takin God out =Problems.
I found my love of working with my hands as a young child. My grandpa(Toby Tyler) could build anything out of anything. His yard was a museum of items he built outta other peoples junk. When I would go to stay with them,he would always lettme make somthing.Or help him with his latest project. He passed away a few years back at the age of 91. I wish I would have discovered this cigarbox guitar while he was still alive. He would have loved it. Im sure he would have had the best ideas.( And he had sheds full of great parts too..) I managed to get a few things before they tore down the old place. But did not know what I was looking for at that time. I guess I'll just have to show him how to build one when I make my trip.
I started out playing guitar because my momma wouldnt let me have a drum set. And the more I begged for drums. The nicer my guitars got. I eventually got one I could keep in tune and I taught myself how to play.
I eventually got my drumset when I was moved out, married, and in my 30's. And even though I would have been an amazing drummer if id have started as a child. I am so glad my mom went for guitars. I dont believe I would have ever learned to play anything else if drums were givin to me first. I should mention I could play the drums the first time I ever sat behind a kit.(my grandpa Toby was a drummer in the big bands) Now I dont have the interest to be a drummer. But do it when needed. Or when I wanna beat something up.
Musical instruments have always come fairly easy to me. I play guitar, bass, drums, piano, mandolin, uke. some better than others but not really great at any.
I find peace when I'm playing. If I'm stressin out or feeling down.I grab a guitar. It's amazing how it changes me.
I have a wide range of music I enjoy. So instead of listing what I like I'lll list what I dont like. Rap,Pop Country, and every teeny bopper pitch corrected act Ive seen. I cant believe what people buy.
I love tube amps and pretty girls but not neccesarily in that order. So I stay close to home. I play music at my church. And I'm in a band as a bass player that gigs very seldom. No bars just private parties. But the coolest part is they actually pay me to play!!! I should probably pay them as much as I enjoy it. But thats ok. I dont make much money selling CBG's and roofing hasnt been great for a couple years now. So every penny helps.
People that know me say I dont filter much.Which I guess means that I cut the crap and say what I mean.
I believe that if I always tell the truth ,I dont have to remember what I said.
I like the CBG world because I feel like the people here are alot like me.There are some curveballs thrown here and there. But overall a bunch of people I can be happy to call my friends.
I hope this gave you some insight as to who I am. And what I'm about.
Nice to meet you!

Hi guys,
Ok, so Im Ben, Im 33 and I live up in the Scottish Highlands. Currently that gives me the distinction of being the most northerly builder in the Clubhouse! lol
I discovered CBGs less than a year ago, but like all you guys, got hooked pretty quick. Iv just finished my 42nd build.
Most of you guys already know that my real job is running a bed & breakfast - its pretty full on, but building guitars gives me the time out I need.
Iv just set up my first website at www.randyroosterscigarboxguitars.com so I can sell a few to pay for my habit!
Hopefully in the future Il learn to play the damn things too :o)
