Here's a dulcimer I carved from a single slab of mahogany which floated up on shore at Cofresi, Dominican Republic...... amazing what shows up each morning. The bridge sits on a thin floating wedge that can be amplified with a clip on piezo pickup.

This is my "Bucket Oar Bass"... made from scraps around the house, and the bucket came from Goodwill Industries...and it kicks butt on the sound... Single string fretless, I tune it to D for my dulcimer compliment..

Here is my entry into the builders challenge. It is simple but very representative of a vintage hand made music instrument.

A "Relic" Canjo....

A 20+ year old Folgers Coffee Can used for holding nuts & bolts, an old rusty nail for a nut, an old weathered broken leaf rake handle for a neck, and you have an instrument that looks truly vintage!

The neck is crudely notched at the pentatonic nodes with a pocket knife.

Yes, the wood tuning peg does look new... the "cover story" is that I wanted to make it playable, and the original was just too brittle to hold the string....

Here's an antique trout fishing net that turned into a three string dulcimer.

That is down right cool :) what a great idea kind of like my cake pan on a much larger scale :)
