I may reverse the eyebolts so that the string ties to the eye instead of the wingnut.

BTW, one advantage of having it set up like you do is that the wing nuts "lock" against the sides of the head, holding them firmly in place.  That way the only "turnable" part is the eye bolt.  Same would probably hold true though if you reversed it (the eye bolts would fit against the side) so you may have something there.  I've never seen another like it.  Thanks for sharing that design.  Awesome. : )

I may try your tuner version sometime.  It looks a lot easier to tune than the version I tried-- a nut and wingnut combo that worked like a "locking" tuner but was very time-consuming to tune initially.

Thanks, Way. It's pretty easy to tune. I tried them flipped the other way on my lap steel, but haven't decided which I like better. Probably just a preference thing.

That's great Lane.  I made something similar to this a few months ago.  It worked... but I wouldn't wanna tackle it again.  I used a double-nut locking system so once it was tuned it stayed in tune nearly forever... but tuning it was a real bear. It looks to me though like your design is easier to tune.   Very nice "found item" tuning system!
