Thank you for the very clear explanation, the reason for the placing of the pup in line withe the string is purely as a design feature, but if you think it will not function efficiently then it will have to be as you suggested on a slant . So to earth the set up, just solder to the outside of the volume casing ?
Sorry Darryl, I'm in between Christmas dinner & trying to get the pic/link out correctly, Thanks for the feedback , ganna give the reply' s some time tomorrow, when the dust has settled! Cheers, Martin.
also martin, any wires soldered to the casing of you pots will be part of the earth circuit,at some place on a prewired setup, they will connect to the housing of the jack,[outer connection],some terminals may just go to ground and back to another terminal, but that is all part of the earthing link
well martin, firstly your pup does have an earth,i can,t load the amazon page you linked, but the pup will have an active and a negative[earth] if you can tell me the colours of the wires from the pup i may be able to suggest which is earth, also, lining your pup parrallel to the strings will probably not be all that good for sound, middle string will swamp everything i feel,do you have any particular reason for doing it this way?more info and guys like ted will help you for sure, and if i can i will, cheers
