Welcome to the Clubhouse! How did you hear about us?
just found you on line, someone told me there was a CBG building class at FVCC I looked but found nothing. I need some help cutting my box to fit the neck. I practiced on a box
as a sample and am not really satisfied enough to start on my
final box. is there somewhere in the valley I can go to get assistance?
What instruments are you building or playing?

I've cut my boxes to fit the neck a number of different ways:
1) A small handsaw (I have an Xacto and Jap pull saw) to cut the sides. Then I've scored the across part with a razor knife many many many many times until I can break it off, then clean up with a file or sandpaper
2) Use a jigsaw and round the corners at the bottom then go back and resaw to get 90 degree angles.
3) Probably the easiest is to use a table saw. Set the blade to the desired height and just continually run the side of the box thru until all the material is removed. I usually use the butt end of the neck lined up against the box to pencil in the exact shape. Remember if you do this that once you are done you STILL WANT TO SEE the pencil marks.
