"Hi Ted, Over many years I've accumulated a box full of 42 wire that I've broken while winding.  I usually have a 0% failure rate the past few years.  I've learned the proper tension to guide the wire as I use my winder.…"

After several failed attempts to wind a single pole pup I could certainly use some direction. Im using 42AWG wire and breaking or burning through every time. I think I could work with a slightly heavier guage, but not sure if that's the right move or what guage???? Any direction would be appreciated.

"Thanks Jim! I use to build just about everything from pallets. If anyone likes that stuff, go to Pinterest and search Woodwisher or Ted Smith."

Hi Ted, welcome to the Handmade Music Clubhouse - Cigar Box Guitar Headquarters (CBG HQ)!  I'm right down the coast in Stuart if you want to stop by the shop.

The focus here is on all types of handmade instruments and music. There are lots of helpful builders and players here and lots of Groups to teach and learn. We welcome participation so don't be shy.

Have a look around, introduce yourself in My Name Is...  There's an active Chat Room where you can ask questions, offer help or just talk about anything with some great folks.

Most of all Have Fun!
