The song I just posted I finished today from a song prompt at last night's Fredericksburg Songwriters' Showcase:  we broke into groups of three, and each drew a handful of "noun" cards and another of "adjective" cards from the  "Apples to Apples" board game.  The lyrics, along with the cards my group drew, are here.I didn't even realize as we started the song that the Virginia State Fair started yesterday!See More

Frail Echoes: A Banjo Tribute

Posted on October 4, 2010 at 2:33pm 2 Comments

I just posted a collection of tunes is selected from the nineteenth century American hymns in the 1982 Hymnal of the Episcopal Church, which I arranged for frailing banjo. I picked these tunes because learning them on the pre-eminent American folk instrument of that time seemed an interesting challenge, and because (for most of them) they were already among my favorite hymns.…

Rumba Stick

Posted on January 17, 2010 at 8:30pm 2 Comments

I finished my long-threatened swiss-army kalimba today. The Rumba Stick (see the album for details on the pictures) is a rake-tine kalimba mounted on the top of a previously-rejected Carlos Toraño Ovation box. I rejected the box because the "pretty" finish turned out to be some icky plastic coating, with even the bottom covered in nasty faux velvet (what were they thinking?)

Later I started the… Continue

Oh no, I wouldn't feel right doing that. But I will share the link so he could listen if/when he goes online. Thanks.

I wondered when I saw the list with the liner notes on the other website. I was thinking if it is on cd, I'd order one to give to an older gentleman who would really enjoy listening to your music. The old hymns are beautiful.
