Resonator baritone uke?

Someone just told me he wanted a baritone resonator uke.I said no problem...I'll find you a link...That was harder than I thought...I found a couple $1500 ones...not in budget.I told him he might have to go the cigar box route...a bit of a pause & blank look...Still open to suggestions, but I think he's hoping I find him an easy off the shelf solution...closer to $$ than $$$$.Anyway, anyone know of such a beast, either to build or to buy?ThanksMurraySee More

building a 5-string electric bass - request for reference

I am interested in building a bass that is a hybrid of inexpensive parts and decent wood.I have a large cherry slab that isn't quite big enough for full-sized bodies, so I'm thinking a Klein-style small body with leg-rest cutaway, and hopefully can make a guitar body and a bass body.I may go with a 'through' neck for some reason, and have a set of 5 strings. Kind of a weird set of preliminary design criteria, but that's what I started with...so I bought a 5-position tailpiece, 2+3 set of 5…See More

Welcome to the Clubhouse! How did you hear about us?
Reading Cigar Box Nation newsletter email; saw sidebar reference.
What instruments are you building or playing?
Baritone uke converted to tenor guitar - resolving intonation problems when I have time.

Other 4-string ideas/projects making little progress.

Occasionally I try tuning another aluminum carcass from an old hard drive case. I have 5 tuned so far chromatically...a lot of work, and it's based on suspending them from a node or dead spot to measure them. I think I need to start mounting them & recheck the tuning before I assume they are 'done'. I can tune the primary pitch that lasts the longest and loudest, but can do very little about other pitches that accompany those, or different ones excited by hitting a different side. I hope to get a full chromatic octave. Originally I wanted more, but it's getting frustrating.
