Wiring question

Got an guitar electronics question for ya'll; In putting the harness together for my latest build. I have 2 magpups going thru vol and tone pots into a 3-way and that 3-way output then goes into a second 3-way. A pre-amped piezo feeds into the other side of the 2nd 3-way, and then that 3-way output goes to the jack. The problem is, I get a pop when switching the 2nd 3-way from magpup to piezo and back again.... I think a correctly placed cap or resistor would solve the popping, but am curious…See More

Acoustic to Resonator Conversion Proto

This is a guitar given to me to use as a prototype for converting a 1970's Sigma into a Resonator for a guitarist friend of mine. I'll be using this little guitar to test out a few things I've been wanting to do for a while.   (In case I screw it up, I'm not screwing up a really nice guitar)  The Sigma was made by Martin in the 1970's in Korea and is a beautiful awesome playing instrument, but it is just yearning to become a Resonator.Anyway, thanks for making the challenge, this will force me…See More

reso nameage

Hey there HMMC-

I have built one guitar, and do not by any means consider myself to be a Luthier, as many of you are.  I have a situation which has developed,  I've been asked by the friend who used my reso. on their CD what to put in the liner notes as "my company name".. the issue is, I do not have a company, nor do I intend to!

My friend implied they want to put something on there and suggested either using just my name, or he came up with

"Rundquist…

Formed Aluminum Neck

Posted on August 23, 2012 at 9:04pm 1 Comment

I've seen billet aluminum necks, composite necks, and of course wooden necks, but I don't think I've seen a formed aluminum neck;.

I think it would be possible and strong enough if done correctly.

Has anyone tried this before?

Any thoughts?

Steel Bodied Resonator Scratch Build

Posted on February 27, 2012 at 10:45pm 3 Comments

I'm building my first guitar, a metal bodied resonator.  Currently part of my plan in to wire three piezos into a pre-amp with a 3 band EQ in series.  One on the cone itself, one on the soundboard and one on the tail piece.

As I've never built one before, and am completely experimenting with…
