OK, so now I can finally put the picture up. This is a guitar lesson with the Denver Chapter of Guitars4Vets two weeks ago. Veterans from the neurological program at the Denver Veterans Hospital are recommended by the department staff for lessons to learn guitar playing. As of last Thursday I participated as a volunteer in my first session with Guitars 4 Vets (G4V). I will be giving guitar lessons to veterans who are going through therapy with the Veterans Administration, and at the end of the 10-week lesson cycle they are given a new guitar with all the accessories. This is a great program.
I re-purposed the four-string oak neck from a previous project. My father's last license plate for the face on a maple tissue box cover for the body. Threaded rod bridge and bison bone nut. The pickup is a piezo disc with a volume pot. Combo jack and strap button holds a strap made from a belt I picked up at Goodwill. I added the wrist support when I found that the edge of the license plate was uncomfortable when playing.…Continue

This is my first build, a lap steel with piezo pickup and volume control knob, repurposed neck, being played in March 2013 at Swallow Hill Music Association, Denver, Colorado.
