Building the Newgrange CBG

This is a commission instrument for John Campbell. It's name is Newgrange, inspired by the prehistoric monument in County Meath, Ireland.

Here's a pic of the progress so far - a Las Cabrillas box, and some maple

I decided to put a strip of rosewood between the maple ears on the neck. I glued it to the ears first.

Then glued the ears to the neck

Viola!

I cut the neck hole in the box and made a fingerboard. I'm trying to get the fingerboard color close to the sides of the box.

Comment by John Campbell on February 2, 2013 at 7:25pm: Ted, another idea using 4 of these pendants shown above with the Newgrange trispiral in the center and triquetras on the corners. Cut the loop end off of each pendant in order to work with the triangle shape only. Mount one in the center and connect the other 3 to each side creating one larger triangle shape similar to the headstock triquetra. This larger triquetra shape would be mounted on the box somewhere. Maybe upper right or bottom right side of box. Would you be able to embed these into the wood of the box so they would be flush?The dimensions of each pendant are apprx. 28mm (1.1 inches) x 35mm (1.3 inches) Mull this one over a little bit.
