SG

The SG has always intrigued me. The subtle cuts that create the horns. The many styles they came in. They can run from the ornate 3 golden pickup custom with block inlays & binding. They can be as bare bones as a 1 P90 dot neck Jr. Jimi Hendrix played a blistering version of Red House on one at The Isle of Wright and Angus Young has been strummin the same 3 chords on one for decades. This is my take on the SG in all its barebones  rustic handmade glory. I started with local spruce, traced my template and routed before I cut. I routed all around and hand sanded.  There is a paintcan "reso" in the center with a single coil mounted in it. I used an Epi LP neck I redid and for simplicity a strat style bridge. The "S" swirl I made from 1/4 in oak and laid some rusty tin over top to go with the theme. Wood knobs with Lincolns were my last little touch. Heres  a basic photo account of its creation.
