In fact Wade, here's a photo of some I just did. The headstock was thinned out a bit since this was 7/8" stock, but you can just as easily use 3/4" and do nothing. One trick to get more tension on the nut is to install the tuners backwards so they wind the string down under the tuner shaft instead of up and over the shaft. =)

Thx all for the good words! =)

Ted, you know how shy I am, LOL! =)

Rodney, I think my super glue didn't take on those frets and the fell off somewhere. Sound pretty good without em tho, huh?

Wade, I've done more slotted heads without a scarf join than with and yes, it does work well.

Sounds terrific Jay. I cut my first slotted headstock a few months ago. I got to wondering. Is a scarf joint even necessary? Do you think there would be enough string angle without it on a slotted headstock? Just curious as it would save time building and more time playing!

Ted I will, also  I just wanted to let you know that my wife has been a sick woman for awhile well last week they found out that she had five atrteries blocked. The doctor said she had to have open heart surgery now or I might lose her. Well last friday she had surgery but they could only do the 2 major arteries but the cardiologist said he could take care of the others with meds. She is home now and now the recovery progress begins

Wow Jay, that sounds sweet, congrats Roger!  Some nice pickin Jay, and great vid.

Something bugs me about your vids, and a lot of others.  I understand that you're showing off an instrument, but that's no reason not to show all of you when you're playing.  Jay, you play very very well, and if you zoomed out a little we'd get to love it as a sort of performance.  I bet a lot of folks here would really enjoy some vids of you playing.  Folks?

And maybe a narrative of the features at the beginning.  LOL

Treat that beauty right Roger!

It's 22" scale Gene. These strings are from CBGitty, the 26/17/13 sets. Tuned to CFcc, but will be dropping down to 22/14/11 and tuning up to Dadd before sending it off to Roger. The 4th string really adds a lot to these little things, but the 3 strings still sound good with these boxes. Thanks! =)
